Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson sponsored legislation creating a state framework for the oversight and coordination of subterranean transportation infrastructure in Tennessee.
Senate Bill 2205, the Subterranean Transportation Infrastructure Coordination Act, would establish an authority to coordinate permitting and oversight of underground transportation projects, beginning with the Music City Loop under development in Nashville.
Johnson said Tennessee’s continued population growth and increasingly constrained surface transportation corridors make it important for the state to consider new approaches to transportation infrastructure.
